TEAMS have made their final preparations ahead of the opening day of practice at the Liqui-Moly Bathurst 12 Hour.
The Scott Taylor Motorsport run #75 Mercedes-AMG Team SunEnergy1 Racing car has been wrapped in it’s warpaint overnight ahead of the weekend.
Drivers, Kenny Habul, Jamie Whincup, Tristain Vautier and Raffaele Marciello will hit the circuit in the fresh livery today, which features a striking blue scheme with the iconic flames up the front of the car.
Also overnight, Bentley Team M-Sport’s cars and equipment arrived trackside, after the cargo freighter it was shipped on experienced dramas in transit.
The team has been working frantically since 3:30am to get the Continental GT3s ready for today’s practice sessions and are confident the cars will be ready for the day.
Mercedes-AMG Team Strakka Racing, who also had some of their equipment on the same boat as Bentley, have also had a busy morning setting up the final touches of their garage.
More than 50 cars will take to the track today as drivers attempt to acclimatise themselves with the Mount Panorama Circuit before qualifying on Saturday and Sunday’s 12 Hour endurance classic.
The day begins with Practice 1 at 0825 local time, a designated 30-minute session for everyone except the Class A Platinum and Gold rated drivers, giving lower rated drivers an opportunity to get laps under their belt around the circuit at their own pace.
The second practice session of the day, which will be 45-minutes in length, takes place immediately after at 0900 ahead of another two 45-minute hit outs later in the day at 1045 and 1335 respectively.
All of Friday’s Bathurst 12 Hour sessions will have audio coverage courtesy of radiolemans.com, while live timing will be available on the bathurst12hour.com.au website.
Tickets can be purchased at the gate, with general admission weekend passes available. Sunday GA passes, including access to the pit and paddock area, can be purchased for $46 on arrival.
