The Toyota 86 Racing Series will feature a new event at The Bend Motorsport Park as well as a return to Sandown as part of an expanded 2018 calendar.
The move to six rounds for next season will make it the longest in the category’s three-year history, and the first time it has has hosted a round off the eastern seaboard.
“Next year’s calendar provides even more challenges and variety with the country’s two fastest circuits at Phillip Island and Bathurst, as well as Sandown, a brand new venue at Tailem Bend and the two street circuits,” said Sean Hanley, Toyota Australia’s senior divisional manager sales and marketing.
The 2018 calendar will drop Sydney Motorsport Park, and in return travel to South Australia to be a part of the support program for the inaugural The Bend Supersprint in August.
The season kicks off at Phillip Island in April, before a short break between events with Round 2 on the streets of Townsville.
Round 3 will be at The Bend Motorsport Park, before they head to Sandown in September and Bathurst for Round 5 to support ‘The Great Race’.
The final round of the championship will be contested on the streets of Newcastle, supporting the Newcastle 500 in November.
