Jaxon Evans has taken out the Race 3 win in Porsche Carrera Cup Australia at the Gold Coast, while David Wall claimed the 2017 Carrera Cup Championship from fifth place.
Pole-sitter Andre Heimgartner bogged down off the start with Evans seizing the opportunity and moving into the lead before Turn 1, followed through by Alex Davison and Michael Almond.
Almond had to run through the escape road at the Turn 1-2-3 chicane though, conceding third place back to Heimgartner.
Immediately, Evans began to clear off out front, while Davison started to come under pressure from the #777 of Heimgartner.
Further back in the field, James Abela hauled past Nick McBride for seventh place on lap 9, while Almond dropped back to eighth.
Evans crossed the line 1.5s ahead of Davison who held off Heimgartner in the closing stages to take second and third respectively.
Dylan O’Keeffe finished in fourth ahead of championship winner Wall who came across the line fifth.
Dean Cook took out the Carrera Challenge class victory and round win from Marc Cini and Sam Shahin, who survived a major spin and slight contact with the barrier in the early stages of the 11-lap race at the beach chicane.
